Welcome to Boyd Ponds Metropolitan District No. 2
A metropolitan district is a type of special district that serves as an independent local governmental entity organized to finance, construct, operate, and maintain public services, infrastructure and amenities. A metropolitan district acts through it elected Board of Directors and provides at least two types of services, which may include fire protection, mosquito control, parks or recreation, traffic and safety controls, sanitation, solid waste disposal, street improvements, television relay and translator facilities, transportation, or water. The Boyd Ponds Metropolitan District No. 2 was organized to finance and construct certain public infrastructure improvements that benefit the residents of the District. The District financed the construction of streets, parks and recreation, sanitation, and water improvements serving residents of the District, which were dedicated to other public or private entities for operation and maintenance. Currently, the District provides native mowing and trash pickup of the channel ditch located at W 62nd Drive and Pike Court. The total debt the District is permitted to issue shall not exceed $7,000,000. All bonds and other debt issued by the District may be payable from any and all legal available revenues of the District including general ad valorem taxes and fees imposed upon all taxable property within the District, as may be limited under the District’s Service Plan. The maximum mill levy the District may assess to pay such debt is currently unlimited as to rate. A person may serve on the Board of Directors of the District if the they are an “eligible elector” under § 32-1-103(5), C.R.S. and are elected or appointed to the Board. Elections are held in May of odd numbered years and vacancies may be filled by appointment.
